New York Jazz Academy, NYC’s acclaimed jazz music school, has opened a new location in Syosset (14 Cold Spring Rd., Syosset, NY 11791), now offering music lessons and jazz band opportunities to kids, teens, and adults on Long Island. NYJA Long Island welcomes artists of all ages and skill levels. With locations thriving in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island, NYJA has built an extensive network of some of the best jazz musicians and educators in America’s most talent-packed region. New York Jazz Academy’s diverse student body includes seasoned performing artists, adult hobbyists, supremely talented teens, and beginners of all ages. Students can train on virtually any instrument, including piano, guitar, drums, saxophone, trumpet, voice, and more. From private lessons and improv workshops to jam sessions and band rehearsals, NYJA has something for virtually everyone. An active contributor to the cultural vitality of the NYC and Long Island, NYJA also offers school outreach programs and assemblies, special performances, partnerships with major jazz clubs, custom workshops for out-of-town students, online classes, and educational consulting and publishing.
Weekly programs include Sunday afternoon and evening classes, private lessons, jazz bands, small ensembles, and more. The programs are leveled according to aptitude and experience and include opportunities for kids, high school students, and adults. Pros and students alike sign up for these classes, which help musician take their playing to the next level. Our Long Island students regularly see top NYSSMA scores, in addition to having major gigging opportunities via Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, local halls, and much more.
The most popular summer music camps for teens are now coming to Syosset on Long Island. In summer 2016, New York Jazz Academy will offer several weeks of summer jazz workshops and camps for both teens and adults.
